The electric guitar is the perfect instrument for taking your productions to the next level. It’s great for rhythmic patterns, atmospheric textures, soaring leads, and a whole lot more.
Of course, playing the guitar isn’t exactly a walk in the park. To get anywhere with it, you generally need to spend years if not decades honing your skills.
Incorporating some guitar into your projects doesn’t need to be that hard, though. And in this guide, we look at the best free electric guitar sample packs and loops. Download these and you’ll be off to the races.
50 Best Free Guitar Samples by LANDR
LANDR is fast becoming a significant repository of samples and sample packs. Not all of them are free, but they do have the occasional freebie, like 50 Best Free Guitar Samples.
In this selection, you’ll find a mix of both acoustic and electric guitar samples and chord one-shots, all of which have been tempo and key labelled. One-shots, of course, have been labeled by chord name.
Chill, mellow, lo-fi and melancholy samples dominate this collection, and some of the samples have been so heavily processed, they barely even resemble guitars anymore! Electronic producers will probably love this, mind you.
This pack should come in handy for kicking off new ideas, or even adding something a little different to your existing projects – whether it’s swells, textures, rhythmic riffs, or melodic parts. Just don’t expect to find anything aggressive or heavy!

Vibrations Guitar Sample Pack by Cymatics.fm
Cymatics is generally a good source to turn to for some excellent freebies and premium sample packs alike.
While they do have a few packs that serve more as construction kits for specific types of beats (specific genres or even specific producer inspired), there’s no mistaking what the Vibrations Guitar Sample Pack is – it’s a collection of 100 guitar loops in a variety of styles!
This selection ought to help you build out your personal sample and loop library in a hurry. Inside, you’ll find pop guitar loops, metal guitar loops, chill guitar loops, hip-hop guitar loops, and reggae guitar loops – there are 20 of each! These loops cover a lot of ground.

272 free guitar and bass samples by SampleRadar
This collection may not have a specific focus (it’s not based on a specific genre or type of guitar), but it does put a large array of guitar and bass sounds right at your fingertips.
These guitar sounds were recorded using a combination of gear, including Native Instruments’ Guitar Rig, a tube compressor, and depending on the sample, a Morley wah-wah effect. MusicRadar reassures us, though, that most sounds have been kept clean (so you can process them as you see fit).
Meanwhile, the bass sounds were captured with two classic Music Man Stingray basses. These were treated with EQ and compression, and some also come with distortion, phaser, or an envelope filter.
The package has been organized very simply – there’s a folder for guitar loops, and there’s a folder for bass loops.
MusicRadar has made the samples available as WAV files. This means you can drag and drop them directly into your DAW.
Overall, it’s not too big of a download, at 95 MB. And not all the sounds are “amazing,” but it is a fun selection, nonetheless.

188 free processed guitar samples by SampleRadar
If you’ve been looking for a storehouse of processed electric guitar samples, guess what? You’ve found them!
This SampleRadar entry features the sound of a Fender Stratocaster, Squier Telecaster, and a Gretch Electromatic. These were all fed through an array of pedals and outboard gear to take that processed flavor to the max!
In this case, though, you should not expect anything “normal” or “conventional.” The sounds are a little out there. But that does mean they have a broader application in electronic music, right?
MusicRadar has organized the files into eight folders based on the effects and doctoring used on the sounds.
This 24-bit WAV collection weighs in at a slightly heavier 195 MB. But you’re welcome to use them as you please, so long as you don’t redistribute them.

400 free heavy metal guitar samples by SampleRadar
This pack promises to be a heavy-hitting entry, with 400 heavy metal guitar samples at a generous 568 MB. This is sure to be a delight to anyone who simply doesn’t have the time to learn the guitar (or record so much material).
Besides heavy metal, these samples are well worth trying in more aggressive electronic genres, including industrial.
The team has organized the samples into three major folders – Guitar A, Guitar B, and Guitar C. You’ll find power chords, chugs, riffs, and more inside each bucket. There seems to be a slight difference in tone between each guitar…? I think that’s what I’m picking up.
Just as you’d expect, the samples have been delivered as 24-bit WAV and are drag and drop ready. Just open your DAW, load in the files, and you’ll be off to the races.

174 free western guitar samples by SampleRadar
If there’s one thing we know about folk, western, or country, it’s that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. That said, those who love it, love it, and this collection is simply too cool not to highlight.
The 174 free western guitar samples pack features acoustic and electric sounds. The four included folders, in fact, have been labelled Acoustic, Danelectro, Gretsch Electromatic, and Fender Stratocaster.
From what we can tell, this collection is mostly made up of one-shots, but you’ll be glad to know all the files have been titled appropriately.
The 211 MB collection is available for immediate download, and the files have been delivered in a convenient WAV format for drag and drop goodness.
