If you’ve been on the hunt for the best free drum sample packs and loops, you’ve come to the right place.
As you work your way through this guide, we think you’ll be surprised, just as we were, to discover how many high-quality free entries are out there.
While you may not require all of them for your next project, whether you’re looking for acoustic or electric, jazz or trap, hand claps or finger snaps, percussion or 808s, you simply won’t be disappointed. You’ll even find a few oddballs towards the end of the guide.
So, let’s look at the best free drum sample packs and loops.
SampleRadar: 1,000 free drum samples by MusicRadar
MusicRadar’s SampleRadar project has brought countless usable samples to the masses, including this – 1,000 free drum samples.
This collection comes with complete kits (load into your drum machine or electronic drums) as well as single hits.
All the files have been split into three main folders – Drum Kits, Assorted Hits, and Rex Loops. Both the Drum Kits and Assorted Hits folders come with sub-folders so you can easily navigate the array of acoustic and electronic sounds available.
Everything is available as a WAV file so you can easily transplant them into your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).
The REX files can be used with any application that supports them.
You can use this pack however you wish, but MusicRadar requests that you not re-distribute the files.
Having listened to a few of these myself, I can honestly say this isn’t your ordinary, run of the mill, free collection. There are some legitimately great sounds available in this expansive, valuable toolkit.

SampleRadar: 494 free essential drum kit samples by MusicRadar
SampleRadar’s 494 free essential drum kit samples collection features 18 kits along with an array of one-shots you can use in any host.
The files have been split up into 18 folders, each with its own one-shot drum and percussion samples, each with enough sounds to constitute an entire kit on its own.
Conveniently, the audio material has been supplied as WAV files. That should make it easy for you to add them to your projects in your DAW!
The royalty-free samples can be used however you like, but MusicRadar does request that you not redistribute these suckers.
From 808 kicks and chip tune snares to urban cymbals and hand darbuka, this is an extensive and unique collection that can add some serious color and flavor to your projects.

400+ FREE Acoustic Drum Samples (WAV) by wavbvkery
As the story goes, wavbvkery was at Jon Sine’s B Studio recording drum packs, when they discovered a vintage Ludwig drumkit set up in Sine’s office.
On a whim, they asked whether he’d be amenable to letting them record his kit. He agreed, and thus, wavbvkery dragged pieces of his kit, one by one, into the studio to capture their sounds.
These sounds were recorded in a vocal booth using nothing but a large diaphragm condenser mic.
The “possibly from the 70s” kit is suitable to most major genres, be it jazz, rock, or indie. The developer assures us, though, that the cymbals were either maintained and replaced, and so were the drumheads.
The snare had been tuned and optimized for tone, but wavbvkery found that other elements couldn’t quiet live up to the quality of the great sounding snare.
Of course, it was all recorded with one mic. That’s a constraint if there ever was one. There are no overhead and no room samples, you get what you get. Chances are it won’t sound like a realistic live kit.
There are still some good samples, though, and if you are a studio wizard, who knows. You might be able to doctor these up and make them sound like a killer kit yet.
The 100% royalty free collection comes with snares, sticks, kicks, toms (high, low, mid), crashes, cowbells, hi-hats, and rides, for a total of 445 44.1 kHz / 24-bit WAV files at 345.9 MB.

Free Jazz Funk Drum Sample Library by Orange Tree Samples
It may be an oldie, but it’s still a goodie. Free Jazz Funk Drum Sample Library was created simply because there was a complete lack of jazz funk style drum sets out there.
It’s not a big kit by any means. This free collection features the sounds of a snare, kick, two cymbals, and two toms. Of course, an experienced drummer (especially a touring drummer) knows to keep their kit small, and this would not be an unusual setup for a laid-back recording session or performance.
A pro drummer can draw several different sounds out of a single element. That being the case, the goal here was to sample the dynamic, expressive sounds of a skilled player, giving you fewer pieces to work with, but of greater quality, and with more timbres.
The tone, of course, is well suited to jazz and funk genres.
The pack is available as WAV files, but you can also get it for Kontakt and SFZ.
The drumkit does indeed sound suitable to the dynamic requirements of jazz- and funk-oriented styles.

Reaper: Trap Hi-Hat Loops & MIDI by Cymatics.fm
When it comes to trap music, hi-hats are super important. Obviously, you can’t rule out the importance of the snare or sub kick either, but you need some killer hi-hat patterns to make your beats work. You can program or sequence them, of course, but if you don’t have prior experience with it, it can be a pain.
Here, Cymatics.fm has generously provided 20 hi-hat loops (along with MIDI files) you can use to enhance the feel and groove of your beats. Of course, the MIDI files allow for further customization, so you can make these hi-hat patterns all your own.
Co-founder Drew Cymatics himself drew from his own beats to put together this thrilling collection.
Cymatics says this offer may not be available for long, so get it while the getting is good and head on over to Cymatics for 20 free trap hi-hat loops and MIDI files.

Blaze Free Sample Pack by Cymatics.fm
Drawing from his own beats, Cymatics co-founder Drew Cymatics put together the Blaze Free Sample Pack, a collection of free hi-hat loops, drum loops, and hi-hat MIDI. These were created in the hotel room, on the plane, and during studio recording sessions in LA.
As with some of the other Cymatics entries, this one may not be free forever. So, set your hands on the 57, royalty-free drum samples before they go away.

Percussion Toolkit Vol. 1 by Cymatics.fm

Percussion, believe it or not, is another strong alternative that can help bring some needed life to your mix. Percussion Toolkit Vol. 1 features Drew Cymatics’ personal collection of percussion one shots, instruments (bongos, djembes, gongs, jingle bells), and much more.
Two Earthworks QC50 microphones and a Sony C800G microphone were used to capture these 100% royalty free samples.

Cobra – Hip Hop Sample Pack by Cymatics.fm
Cobra – Hip Hop Sample Pack is practically a go-to so far as hip-hop collections are concerned. This selection aims to help you find that elusive “X factor” that’s going to make your song stand out from the rest.
Cobra focuses on artistry and musicianship. Cymatics spent days in the studio looking to capture a variety of instruments, including flutes, pianos, guitars, and others, to develop a versatile library.
Once the sounds were captured, the team went to work on creating highly usable textures and melody loops.
Of course, it wouldn’t be much of a drum sample pack if it didn’t also come with 808s, drum loops, and drum one-shots. Good news – it does!
Within the pack, though, you will also find FX, instrument melody loops, and MIDI files to round out the offering.

Astro by Cymatics.fm
The Travis Scott-inspired Astro pack is sure to captivate anyone who was wowed by his number one album, Astroworld.
Cymatics set to work to find out what made this work so inspirational and so good. They looked at all the minute details of production and how the individual sounds were put together. Soon, they were creating their own Astroworld style beats.
Astro comes with 85 samples and loops, which include drum loops, melody loops, 808s, melody loops, drum one-shots, and more.
If you’ve ever wanted to dig in yourself to find out how Astroworld became such a phenomenon, this collection will light you up like Christmas.
Will this pack be free forever? Hard to say. Take advantage of it while you can!

Free Finger Snaps Samples by wavbvkery
The Free Finger Snaps Samples is exactly as it sounds. For all those times you need to add a little something to a beat, there are always finger snaps!
Hilariously, wavbvkery started off with some single snap sounds before recording double snaps and even quadruple group snaps. Well, if this isn’t the ultimate finger snap sample pack, then I simply don’t know what is!
Try panning these babies across the stereo spectrum and adding a bit of reverb to them. Before you know it, you’ll have your hipster indie pop rock on lock.
This collection comes with 30 44.1 kHz / 24-bit WAV files.

Free Boom Bap Drum Kit (Old School Samples) by wavbvkery
The Free Boom Bap Drum Kit was inspired by various hip-hop producers, be it The Alchemist, DJ Premier, or J. Dilla. There are 106 royalty-free samples in this collection, all in their old school glory. You’ll find snares, kicks, hats, and percs you can use to develop your own lo-fi, old school, and boom bap tracks.
In creating this selection, wavbvkery recorded multiple drum machines and cut samples from vinyl record. The samples were processed using a mix of analog and digital gear. The kicks are impactful, and the snares are snappy, and therefore genre appropriate.
This baby is versatile enough to work in a mix of hip-hop projects.

Nick Mira Inspired Drum Kit by wavbvkery
The Nick Mira Inspired Dream Kit, also known as “Dreams,” was inspired by Internet Money producers including E-Trou, Taz Taylor, and of course, Nick Mira. Generously, this kit includes all the ingredients you need to cook up your own trap beats, from 808s to one-shots to cymbals.
Dreams was named after the moody, dreamy qualities heard on Nick Mira’s beats. There is also a loose connection to Juice WRLD’s “Lucid Dreams.”
wavbvkery wanted to go deep with this one, so they meticulously studied Mira’s work and put together a collection of some of his go-to sounds.
Of course, the pack was not created by Nick Mira himself. As a result, the sounds are a close emulation of his, not necessarily an exact match.
Altogether, you get snares, 808s, closed hats, open hats, claps, crashes, rides, and percs.

Free Bongo Sound Samples, Bongo Drum Kit by wavbvkery
Here’s another percussive entry that has the potential to add a nice African / Cuban flavor to your beats.
For this collection, a large diaphragm condenser mic was used to capture a bongo in an acoustically treated vocal booth.
The bongo used wasn’t a top-of-the-line instrument, but it does have a certain charm to it. The developer opted to capture hits at varying velocities, so altogether you get 22 bongo sounds alongside two bongo rolls.
The collection is royalty free, and the samples are all at 24-bit / 44.1 kHz.

Hand Clap Samples by wavbvkery
Hand claps are a popular addition to a wide array of genres – hip-hop, pop, electronic, and more. Most sounds heard on these types of recordings are synthesized. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but wavbvkery’s Hand Clap Samples library lets you add a more organic sound to your projects.
wavbvkery warns these sounds may not be mix ready out of the box, but if you layer them in and add your favorite effects chain, you’re guaranteed to add a fun texture to your mixes. In a way, it’s an advantage that the samples are raw and unedited, because you can do with them as you please.
This selection comes with both single clap samples and double clap samples. One condenser mic was used for the entire recording.
Get the party started with Hand Clap Samples.

Retouched Linn Drum Samples (Free Download) by BVKER
If you’re familiar with 80s music production, then there’s no way you don’t know about the legendary Linn LM-2 drum machine. It could be heard on numerous Billy Idol, Madonna, and A-ha recordings, among many, many others.
With this collection, though, BVKER wasn’t merely looking to put together yet another LinnDrum sample pack. They wanted to take the sounds that made the original drum machine so great and take advantage of various processing and sound design techniques to make these even more compelling.
BVKER manipulated the sounds in a variety of ways to modernize them – whether adding tape saturation, changing pitches, optimizing transients, adding top layers, or otherwise. Reverb and compression were also added.
So, if you’re looking for a pack that will enhance your synthwave or synthpop tracks, this is a great one to get your hands on.
Retouched comes with snares, kicks, claps, toms, hi-hats, and cymbals. This thing sounds great!

Travis Scott Type Drum Kit by BVKER
Not settling for the average or mediocre, Travis Scott experimented endlessly to come up with his own distinct sound. The Travis Scott Type Drum Kit, “Astro,” was of course inspired by the already much-emulated Travis Scott himself.
This kit was created from scratch by the BVKER team, making the sounds as fresh as they could be.
This pack comes with some of the hardest hitting 808s BVKER has ever experimented with. They tried a variety of distortion modules until they came up with what they thought were the gnarliest of 808s.
BVKER even threw in two construction kits, complete with loops, one-shots, and stems from their demo beats.
Overall, you get a mix of drum shots, 808s, cymbals and hats, and two construction kits well-matched to hip-hop and trap productions.

That said, BVKER did put some muscle into the drums with this orbital entry. “Lunar” comes with a mix of snares, kicks, and one-shots, all presented in low fidelity warmth.
They utilized both acoustic drum kits and analog drum machines in coming up with these sounds. Of course, they’ve been processed through distortion and saturation units, analog compressors, filters, sample / bitrate reduction, or some combination thereof.
In some cases, even field recordings have been used to adorn tracks with a more organic character.
As I hinted at earlier, Lunar also features synth and instrument melodic loops. For these, vinyl effects, noise recordings, saturation emulations, various plugins, and custom Ableton racks were used to gracefully age the material.
To top it all off, they’ve also thrown in some random field recordings.
Altogether, you get 120 top loops, drum shots, FX samples, and melodic loops in WAV format.

200+ Free Roland TR-909 Samples by BVKER
Just as it sounds. This collection features classic Roland TR-909 samples you can use in your projects. This 80s drum machine is iconic, and it’s well-known for having stimulated the growth of techno, house, and acid house.
Where the TR-808 was cleaner, with a longer sub bass, 909 features a more saturated and punchy tone.
The dirty kick drum and open hi-hat are probably the most infamous elements of the TR-909. Its shuffle mode was also a favorite for creating a different kind of groove.
The 909 sounds are rather dated by today’s standards, but with this entry, these sounds have been punched up to meet modern production requirements.
Inside this collection, you’ll find 110 drum shots (including snares, claps, kicks, toms, rim shots, closed hats, open hats, crashes, and rides), as well as 100 drum loops (full drum loops, top drum loops, kick loops, cymbal loops, and percussion loops).
